Juan Antonio Carbonell Gómez was born in Matanzas, Cuba. A graduate of the National School of Visual Arts of Cubanacán and the University of Havana, from which he holds a degree in Art History, he has participated in numerous exhibits in Cuba, Spain and elsewhere, and earned awards at sundry art salons and competitions. Graphic design and poster art are his main creative endeavors, but he has also forayed into theatrical, industrial and environmental design. He employs the fan as a central motif in his visual expression. The quality of his fan-inspired artwork has earned him recognition in and outside Spain. He combines creative activity with art instruction, teaching courses and vocational workshops in the visual arts. (www.tonycarbonell.com)
